GenesisWEB Help Based on your role in the presentation (Participant, Presentor or Moderator), the content of the screen and the available options will be different. Attendee Interface As an Attendee (also known as a Participant) you can follow the presentation. You may also be granted the temporary role of Presenter by the Presenter or Moderator currently in control, once the GenesisWEB session has been started by that person. There are 3 pods in vertical alignment at the left side of the Genesis WEB page. The presentation area is to the right of the pods panel. Presenter pod
The Presenter pod shows you who is currently in control of the presentation. There may be an actual live video broadcast or photograph of the presenter here. If the presentation includes audio streaming, a speaker icon will be displayed in the top right corner of the Presenter pod: . It will show the status Live when streaming is enabled, Waiting when the system is waiting for the audio broadcast to begin, or Offline if you click on the icon to turn off audio streaming to your computer. You can adjust the volume via the up and down arrows beside the speaker icon.
Conference Materials pod The Conference Materials pod contains files that can be opened or downloaded to your computer. To do this, select the file and click . Chat pod You can send messages and Q&A session questions to the Presenters and Moderators. Messages sent to "Q&A Session" will be retained for reporting purposes for this Genesis WEB session. To send messages or questions, type the content in the dialog box at the bottom of the Chat pod, select the chat recipient from the "To:" pull-down menu, and then click . You can insert an emoticon in your message by clicking on and then making your selection. These conversations appear in the Public tab. In the Chat pod, you can also see messages sent to you. To reply to a message, click on it. The selected person's name will appear in the "To:" pull-down menu and a new tab with that person's name on it will appear. Your private conversation with that person will appear in this tab, rather than the Public tab.
To the right of the Chat pod heading, there is a pull-down menu for you to provide feedback or status updates. You may be prompted by a Presenter to respond to a query or "quick" poll by using this feature or you can send unsolicited feedback as appropriate. Presentation area The Presentation area will show up to 4 different tabs, depending on what is being presented.
Documents: |
This tab will appear when the Presenter shows slide shows, pictures and other document types. |
Media: |
This tab will appear when the Presenter shares his/her desktop or plays an audio or video file. |
Web: |
This tab will appear when the Presenter shows external web pages. You will have control of your browser to navigate through the web pages. |

This tab will appear when a survey is being run. |
To leave GenesisWEB, click in the top right corner of the GenesisWEB page. Presenter and Moderator Interface Presenters and Moderators have the same capabilities, with the exception of 2 functions: only Moderators can disconnect Participants from GenesisWEB; and only Moderators can access the Reports option. These 2 features are addressed in the following sections. There are 4 pods in vertical alignment at the left side of the GenesisWEB page. The presentation area is to the right of the pods panel.
Presenter pod The Presenter pod shows you who is currently in control of the presentation. There may be an actual live video broadcast or photograph of the presenter here. If the presentation includes audio streaming, a speaker icon will be displayed in the top right corner of the Presenter pod: . It will show the status Offline by default for Presenters and Moderators, since you will be on the phone for the presentation. The status Waiting will be shown if streaming is disabled. If you click on the icon to turn on audio streaming to your computer, the status Live will be shown. You can adjust the volume via the up and down arrows beside the speaker icon. Conference Materials pod The Conference Materials pod contains 2 tabs: Presentation and Handouts.
Presentation: |
This tab is where files to be shared during the presentation are stored. These files include PowerPoint presentations, PDF and Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, music and audio files, movie and video files, saved polls, saved web links, and more. Supported file types are: "sxw", "doc", "docx", "odp", "sxi", "ppt", "pptx", "ods", "sxc", "xls", "xlsx", "csv", "tsv", "pdf", "txt", "rtf", "wpd", "odg", "jpg", "gif", "png", "bmp", "mp3", "wav", "flv", "mov", "mp4", "mpg", "mpeg", "wmv", "avi", "m4a", "m4v". Note that PDF files are uploaded as slides. This means that any file that can be exported to a PDF file can be shown as slides in GenesisWEB, even file formats that are not directly supported (see list above). PDFs can also be scaled via the Setup menu. To open a file for presentation, select the file and click , or simply double-click on the file. To upload a file to the Presentation tab, click . Handouts: |
This tab is where files that can be opened or downloaded by Participants (or other Presenters or Moderators) are stored. These files are opened or downloaded on the person's own computer. Attendees pod The Attendees pod contains 3 tabs: Participants, Q&A and Feedback.
Participants: |
This tab shows a list of everyone who is currently in the room. Presenters and Moderators are shown in bold. The list can be sorted in ascending or descending order by Name or Organization by clicking on the column's header. You can also resize or hide the columns. Click on a person's name to highlight that record and perform a specific action. To send a chat message to only the selected person, click and then type your message in the Chat pod. To pass control of the presentation and make that person a Presenter, click . Moderators have two disconnect options available: To disconnect a Presenter, Moderator or Participant, click . To disconnect all Participants at once, click Note that this option will not disconnect Presenters and Moderators. |
You can send an email invitation to anyone to join the presentation as a Participant, Presenter or Moderator. To do this, click and complete the pop-up form. Emails can be sent via your own email provider or via the GenesisWEB email service. To send an email invitation via your own email provider, click . The default email application on your computer will open. This option gives you the added flexibility of editing the email before it is sent, and the email received by your invitee will come from your default email address. To send an email invitation via the GenesisWEB email service, click . The email will get sent directly to the recipient entered from the Genesis system. All pertinent login information will be included in that email and it will be received by the invitee from meeting@genesisnetworks.com. This method may be useful if you do not wish the invitee to see your personal email address. |

Q&A: |
This tab shows questions submitted by the audience, including the time of submission and the sender's name and company. The list can be sorted in ascending or descending order by Time or Name by clicking on the column's header. Click on a question to highlight that record and perform a specific action. To send a chat message to person who submitted the question, click and then type your message in the Chat pod. To highlight a question (to indicate that it's been addressed, for example), click . To delete a question, click . Q&A session questions are stored for future reference. To access this data, a Moderator can generate the GenesisWEB report by clicking in the Menu Bar at the top of the GenesisWEB page. |
Feedback: |
This tab shows the results of feedback provided by the audience, either for "quick" polls or unsolicited feedback regarding the speaker's volume for example. To reset the results for a "quick" poll so that you can do another one, click beside the appropriate section to be reset and then click . |
Chat pod You can send messages and Q&A session questions to the Presenters and Moderators. You can also send messages to only the Participants, or to everyone, or
to specific people. Messages sent to "Q&A Session" will be retained for reporting purposes for this GenesisWEB session. To send messages or questions, type the content in the dialog box at the bottom of the Chat pod, select the chat recipient from the "To:" pull-down menu, and then click . You can insert an emoticon in your message by clicking on and then making your selection. These conversations appear in the Public tab. To send a message to a specific person, highlight that person's name in the Participants tab in the Attendees pod, then click . In the Chat pod, the selected person's name will appear in the "To:" pull-down menu and a new tab with that person's name on it will appear. Your private conversation with that person will appear in this tab, rather than the Public tab. You can also send an Alert message by clicking . Select the message recipients, type your message and click . A pop-up window containing your Alert message will then appear in the middle of the presentation area for the recipients.
